Prior to retiring from the private practice of law, James S. Goldberg was formerly a senior member of the law firm of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, with it’s principal offices in Louisville, Kentucky and Lexington, Kentucky. Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC is a large, regional law firm, with offices located throughout Kentucky, southern Indiana, and Pennsylvania. During his tenure at Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, Jim also served on the Board of Directors for the entire Firm. He was personally engaged in the practice of law for over thirty-eight years, concentrating his legal practice in the areas of commercial real estate transactions, financings and lending transactions, complex lease negotiations, corporate and business transactions, and workouts, restructurings, commercial litigation matters, and business insolvency matters involving distressed properties and businesses. He has an AV rating from Martindale and Hubbell and has also been listed in Best Lawyers of America and Super Lawyers of Kentucky. His representative clients have included lending institutions, large real estate investors and developers, large and mid-sized businesses, hotel developers and operators, and large, regional hospital organizations and nursing home operators.
In addition to his legal practice, Jim has been actively engaged in the commercial real estate and mortgage banking business for over thirty-five years; having successfully participated in and completed sale and financing transactions throughout much of the eastern United States. These transactions have included the sale of a Class A office building in Louisville, Kentucky; a significant financing for a coal property acquisition in eastern Kentucky; a sale/leaseback transaction involving multiple convenience store locations throughout the Midwest; and both the sale and financing for a transaction involving a hotel property located near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
On a volunteer basis, he has also been actively involved in the affordable housing area, having served for thirteen years on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Housing Corporation ( KHC), including seven years as it’s Chairman. KHC is an approximately two billion dollar+ entity and an arm of state government in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It enjoys a AAA bond rating by all of the rating agencies, which makes it one of the top rated state housing finance organizations in the Country. He has also been very active in the healthcare area, having served over twenty years on the Board of Trustees of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Healthcare (now, KentuckyOne Health), two years as Chair of it’s Finance Committee and two years as Chair of it’s Legal Committee. In his capacity as Chair of this Organization’s Finance Committee, Jim had the opportunity, along with senior management, to represent the Organization in presentations before all of the national bond rating agencies, in anticipation of the largest bond offering in the history of this healthcare organization. Jim represented Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Healthcare for his entire professional career.
Currently, Jim is Managing Director in both Paramount Lodging Advisors Louisville, Kentucky, and Naples, Florida offices. In that capacity, Jim is active in commercial real estate transactional brokerage, the capital markets sector, and general consulting and advisory services.
